Newbury College Apprentice Awards
Monday 27th March 2017
Xtrac have enjoyed a strong connection with Newbury College for many years and recently sponsored the “Best Apprentice in a Small Business” award, which this year was won by Hannah Benson from local business Tally Ho, a high end country pub in Hungerford Newton. Xtrac’s Apprentice Manager Warren Page was proud to present the award on behalf of Xtrac.
The Newbury College award ceremony was held during the National Apprenticeship Week from 6th to 10th March 2017. Xtrac’s Head of Human Resources, Jane Gilham noted that “Xtrac is extremely proud to support the National Apprenticeship Week which is now in its tenth year and continues to raise awareness and highlight the importance of apprenticeships for both individuals and businesses alike.”
James O’Hagan, who completed his apprentice training with Xtrac in 2007 and has gone on to build a successful career as a skilled turner, working on the highest specification parts for many racing formulae including Formula One, was nominated in the “Workplace Mentor Award” category. His efforts in nurturing young talent at Xtrac were particularly noted. Current Xtrac apprentice Jamie Rusbridge, who is due to complete his studies with top grades in 2018, was nominated in the “Best Apprentice in a Large Business” category against tough competition from the thriving local business community.
Following the awards ceremony, Warren Page reflected that “Xtrac continue to benefit each year from some great talent which has been nurtured through our apprenticeship scheme and really value the input that Newbury College makes to its students like James and Jamie”.
