Exclusive IndyCar Supply Agreement Extended

Xtrac is proud to have again received a multi-year contract extension, as the exclusive supplier of approved transmissions for the NTT IndyCar Series. Xtrac began supplying transmission components and complete transmissions to NTT IndyCar Series teams in the early 1990’s and became the exclusive supplier to the series in 2000. This prestigious contract extension follows Xtrac’s award earlier in 2019, as the sole approved transmission supplier to the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship.

Xtrac is one of the NTT IndyCar Series’ longest-tenured partners and its components and assemblies are utilised across the motorsports landscape in disciplines such as Formula One, Formula E, Sports Cars – including IMSA, GT, Touring Cars, and Rally competition.

“As a long-time partner of the NTT IndyCar Series, we have great confidence not only in Xtrac’s products, but also the level of support they provide.  We value their contributions and look forward to continuing the strong partnership that has been built with INDYCAR and its teams,” said Jay Frye, IndyCar Series President.

The current P1011 NTT IndyCar Series transmission was introduced for the start of the 2012 racing season and has been so successful, that it will continue as the base transmission. INDYCAR continues to review options that could be introduced in later racing seasons, and Xtrac will base any future transmission as an evolution of the existing P1011, utilising many of the current parts and thus ensuring that the teams’ running costs are minimised.

Xtrac’s track support to the NTT IndyCar Series at all races will continue at the same high level to all of the teams, and Xtrac technicians will continue assisting the series scrutineers to ensure the racing remains fair and competitive with equality shown to all competitors. Xtrac will also continue to provide outstanding engineering resources to the series, as it has in the past.

“The dedication and enthusiasm of the staff in our Indianapolis technical facility has been a tribute to Xtrac and has played a major role in giving the NTT IndyCar Series, the confidence to extend the supply contract yet again.” remarked Adrian Moore, Xtrac’s Chief Executive Officer.
