Build Up To Le Mans 24 Hours

Blue riband events such as the Le Mans 24 hours, Daytona 24 hours, Sebring 12 hours, Bathurst 12 hours,  and Nürburgring 24 hours along with other 24, 12, 6 and 4 hour events that test car and driver to the extreme. Xtrac personnel and product can be found at the majority of these premiere events.

In the build up to Le Mans, the winning cars at Daytona, Bathurst and Sebring were all fitted with Xtrac gearboxes, reinforcing the fact that of the 60 cars which will be taking the start at Le Mans on 17th June, 41 will be fitted with Xtrac gearboxes. Not only that but the Road to Le Mans race which is part of the thriving Michelin Le Mans Cup series for LMP3 and GT3 cars, sees 34 of the 45 cars also using Xtrac transmissions. An impressive achievement built on years of experience and knowledge gained operating at the highest level of motorsport.

Xtrac have a long heritage of supplying gearboxes for top level LMP1 endurance cars and the like, capable of winning major events such as the Le Mans 24 hours and the Daytona 24. Using this experience Xtrac have, over recent years launched gearbox designs which are suited to the technical and commercial demands of all Sportscar categories including LMP1, DPi, LMP2, LMP3, LMPC, GTE/GTLM, GT3/GTD and most recently GT4.

Having such a diverse stable of gearboxes allows us to provide designs to suit a multitude of one make series. One example is our P1152 gearbox selected by the ACO (Automobile Club de l’Ouest) as a key part of the powertrain for the LMP3 category introduced in 2016 and a major part of the Road to Le Mans race.  With every car having an identical gearbox, the need for Xtrac’s legendary reliability and quality is paramount.

To support our customers at Le Mans, a large support team of nine personnel including skilled technicians and engineers will be attending for the whole week, based in Xtrac’s motorhome and track support vehicles in the main Le Mans and Road to Le Mans paddocks.
