Secrets of the Supercars

Secrets of the Supercars is a brand-new series on Dave looking at the multi-million pound masterpieces of the world’s most iconic brands with Extreme E rally driver Catie Munnings acting as chief test driver and ex-special forces operative Titch Cormack tracking down elusive game changing supercars of the past.

The series kicks off on Sunday 28th March at 7pm with the six-litre engine Pagani Huayra Roadster BC – with a price tag of over 4 million pounds, this supercar reaches 0-60 in under 3 seconds, top speeds of over 220 MPH and is the lightest convertible supercar roadster on earth.

The episode dips behind the scenes at their production facility in Northern Italy and to Xtrac’s facility in the UK where the gearboxes for the Pagani Zonda R, Huayra and Huayra BC were designed and manufactured.

Whilst at Xtrac, the cameras were guided around the factory by Principal Engineer, Michael Allen glimpsing not only our state-of-the-art production equipment such as the vacuum heat treatment facility and loaded gearbox test rigs which are used for validation and end of line sign off, but also introduced key personnel such as Chief Metallurgist Lydia Musangeya and Head of R&D, Oliver Grant.

The passion behind the world’s Supercars extends far beyond the manufacture’s themselves, it starts with Engineers such as Allen and Grant and is continued throughout the manufacture, build and test phase, and through all of the supporting departments of Xtrac, to produce a functional art form in keeping with cars such as the Pagani Huayra.
