Motorsport Exhibitions

Key products being displayed are the P1046T TCR Touring Car gearbox which is a new derivative of the ultra-successful P1046 gearbox for use in TCR and which has already been used by customers to win races during 2017.  GT rear transaxles; the P1529 ideally suited to mid-engine cars and the P529 for front engine cars, with the P427 for more traditional front engine / front gearbox / rear differential layout are featured along with the P1159 LMP gearbox which is being successfully used by multiple LMP2 and DPi customers, and from 2018 by several more LMP1 customers. Completing the motorsport transmission display is the longitudinal P1152 transmission which is the ACO selected transmission for the hugely successful LMP3 formula which competes in Europe, Asia and in the USA.

Xtrac’s renowned high performance automotive sector is represented by the latest P1227 & P1166 Integrated Lightweight Electric Vehicle (ILEV) Transmissions which have been developed to address the growing market requirement for single speed, lightweight and power dense EV transmissions for high performance road cars. The P1227 is highly configurable and suited for use with integrated electric motors supplied by Yasa, Avid or Borg Warner and others, with a specific focus on ensuring the ground helical gear sets adopted for this transmission are silent for the most demanding electric vehicle applications. Both the P1166 & P1227 have been incorporated by Williams Advanced Engineering into its innovative modular lightweight electric car platform concept known as FW-EVX.

Also on display, a selection of Xtrac’s advanced high technology gearbox components, manufactured from the latest bespoke ultra-high specification speciality steels with advanced heat treatment carried out in house to ensure consistent quality. Xtrac have recently added to their extensive in house heat treatment facility with the latest Ipsen Turbo2Treater vacuum heat treatment facility fully installed and commissioned during Autumn 2017, meaning a total of five Ipsen furnaces are now in use in house.  The P1254 Integrated Valve Actuator (IVA) direct acting pneumatic gearchange system, which has been jointly developed by Xtrac and MEGA-Line which is being used with great success in TCR, GT, LMP2 and LMP3 will be fitted to many of the gearboxes on display.

Xtrac’s Managing Director, Adrian Moore presented at PMWE in a workshop on “The Electrification of Motorsport – Transmission Technology”, discussing how the transmission plays a vital part in the integration of the technologies used and how, Xtrac’s innovative design skills, flexible manufacturing facility and latest technology is ideally suited to this growing sector.

The MIA Motorsport and Automotive Jobs Fair in association with MotorsportJobs.com at ASI, will provide a fantastic opportunity for students, graduates, apprentices and professionals, all interested in pursuing a career within the Motorsport and Automotive industries to meet with Xtrac and discuss exciting career opportunities.
