Advanced Apprenticeships 2018
Job Location: Xtrac UK
Closing Date: Fri 2nd March 2018 - Apply Here »
Our award winning Apprenticeship programme follows a SEMTA approved Advanced Apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering and will last 3- 4 years, depending on individual ability. The programme combines on the job training and college attendance.
Our Apprentice Co-ordinator supports each Apprentice for the entire duration of the programme, starting with making sure the transition into Xtrac and full time employment is as easy as possible.
After formal induction into the company, the Apprentice spends the first 16 months of their programme experiencing and learning all areas of the business. The remainder will focus on a particular part of the business ranging from skilled machining to process management, or assembling gearboxes.
College studies take place locally with study work focussed on achieving Edexcel BTEC National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, and there is a possibility of working towards additional higher qualifications.
The ultimate goal is to achieve an NVQ level 3 and to secure permanent employment with Xtrac. Past Apprentices are now fully skilled CNC Machinists and Gearbox Assemblers.
Candidates will require a minimum of four GCSE passes at grade C and above, to include the following subjects: Maths, English, Physics, Chemistry, Technologies, Engineering, Graphics or Resistant Materials.
A mechanical bias is a real advantage, as is an interest in motorsport, and practical experience of cars/motorsport, which may be gained from work experience.
The selection process will take place during April/May 2018 and will include an initial aptitude test, first and second interviews.
