About The Job
We are seeking a Production Planner to create and manage jobs to assist the manufacturing of transmission systems. With the end goal of achieving on time in full, cost and quality targets.
Reporting to the production planning manager, you will be responsible for creating and scheduling jobs to assist the manufacturing of parts and assemblies, assigning materials, resources and lead-times. Whilst ensuring the full delivery of parts and assemblies according to the prescribed methods. You will plan jobs and convert MRP’s (Material requirements plannings) for all parts and assemblies including gauges, tooling, work-holding data; assign materials, resources and lead-times (including external processes) to achieve the customer schedule. You will ensure the job pack is created, maintained to the correct revision, progressed through manufacture and received by stores.
Our transmission systems are used by the World’s top racing teams including Formula 1, IndyCar, Sportscar and Rally. The role will require the successful candidate to determine the appropriate job batch size based on demand (ordered and pipeline), monitor manufacture productivity including MRP’s and handle any change suggestions. You will manage all manufactured parts, including castings and purchased parts in liaison with the purchasing department whilst incorporating supplier lead-times into the job planning.
Our innovative transmissions are also being used in the next generation of ultra-high performance hybrid and EV hypercars. The successful candidate will complete create pre-quotation schedules to enable adequate quotations to be generated. You will assess resource availability, capture costs and answer any sub-contract and shop floor queries. You will ensure non-conformance or DMR’s (Discrepant Material Reports) are closed. You will ensure the senior MPM is aware of the risks to the schedule and that they are aware of the fact department schedules can be adapted depending of priorities. You will be able to work to the company schedule, meet the quality and delivery KPI targets, keep a tidy and organised work environment and ensure lateness is communicated to the correct senior MPM.
You will be part of the personal development process along with observing the health and safety rules at all times.
The successful candidate will have the ability to interpret engineering drawings and methods of manufacture as this is an essential component of the success of the role. Having knowledge of MRP processing is also essential to the role however, having knowledge of Theories of Constraint (TOC) or Lean is preferable but is not a necessity.
Ideally candidates will have had have experience in automotive, aerospace, Motorsport, manufacturing or engineering. However, candidates from other industries with scheduling experience would be equally suitable for this role as on the job training will be provided.
Having excellent organisation and interpersonal skills along with being enthusiastic and working calmly to on time delivery is an essential skill the successful candidate will have. Along with having strong IT skills including working knowledge of Microsoft office.
