Xtrac are pleased to introduce a 1 year placement opportunity for 2020 to 2021 as part of our industrial placement scheme. The successful student be responsible for the technical management, maintenance and development of new and existing production lines to meet SQCDP (Safety, Quality, Cost, Deliver and People/Process) targets.
The level of responsibility and type of project he/she would work on, depends on the ability of the individual to rise to the challenges set, but the expectation is that the individual will become an integrated, contributing member of the team. Xtrac placement students only work on “real” projects adding real value and so you would be expected through your placement to develop good working relationships.
The key accountabilities for this role include contributing to DFMEA, DFM & PFMEA and be involved in the implementation of improvements identified. To contribute in setting and maintaining Manufacturing Engineering standards and related documentation. To be involved in ensuring that manufacturing processes are safe and capable of achieving the required production rate, cost and quality. You will be expected to get involved in resolving technical manufacturing problems. Alongside working with interfacing teams, local experts, partners and suppliers to ensure technical aspects of manufacturing processes are understood You will capture, analyse and use data to demonstrate and improve the current and future capability of manufacturing processes. You will provide manufacturing support for production. You will contribute in identifying and developing opportunities for new or improved manufacturing processes and technologies to meet current or future requirements. You will help drive the continuous improvement of the SQCDP boards in manufacturing
The candidate should be a student of an Engineering Discipline in their second (of three) or third (of four) year of study. Good academic results are a pre-requisite, as is an interest in manufacturing. Any experience or exposure to an engineering, automotive or motorsport environment is desirable. Along with an understanding of Manufacturing Engineering processes and/or Business improvement tools and techniques. Ideally the successful candidate will have a general awareness of relevant Manufacturing Systems and software tools.The candidate must be able to work unsupervised, be self-motivated and be willing to work additional hours where necessary.
