We are seeking a Grinding Department Manager to support the rapid growth of our business and strengthen our busy Grinding team.
Reporting to the Manufacturing Plant Manager, you will be responsible for all activities within the grinding department (CNC, Manual and Jig Grinding) with the manufacturing of a range of high technology mechanical manufactured components for our innovative transmission systems used by the World’s top racing teams including Formula 1, IndyCar, Sportscar and Rally. Our innovative transmissions are also being used in the next generation of ultra-high performance hybrid and EV hypercars. You will manage the resources including all staff and machinery in the department. You will be responsible for planning and managing the introduction of positive changes in the Grinding department by improving performance through continuous process improvements and team building. You will ensure all delivery dates and on time delivery targets are met, whilst ensure all quality and improvement requirement are met.
Tasks will including managing the Grinding department by ensuring all staff know what is expected of them on a daily and weekly basis. You will work closely with HR to recruit and appoint staff as necessary as well as resolving any personnel issues. You will appoint and work with department team leaders and supervisors You will carry out annual performance reviews for all staff along with the probation reviews of any new starters.
We are seeking an individual who has a mechanical/ engineering background from an apprenticeship of Engineering training. innovative and strategically minded. If required, training will be provided so that you will be able to grow and develop to achieve your own personal goals.
The successful candidate will have had strong hands on experience, working within a small team within an engineering environment. You will have had experience of working under pressure, managing a team and working in an unsupervised environment.
You will possess knowledge of CNC grinding and ability to implement changes. The ability to problem solve and develop new processes is a must. Excellent management and team building skills is vital along with being committed to good housekeeping including both the workshop and all paperwork. Being enthusiastic and target driven and thriving upon challenging situation are key skills needed for this role.
