Gearbox Technician

About The Role

Xtrac have recently been announced as the sole gearbox and driveline supplier of the NASCAR Next Gen Cup 2022. This is an extremely exciting and high profile project across our organization and we’re looking for Gearbox Technicians to join us and be part of this project.

Working to Engineering drawings, you’ll be responsible for the assembling of gearboxes and other transmission related products as we prepare for NASCAR tests and races. To help you do this, you’ll liaise and work closely with our Business Managers, Manufacturing Managers and Production & Design Engineers in the UK to ensure smooth build of the product and that it is build to the correct specification, within appropriate time frames.

As a team of Gearbox Technicians, you’ll be required to travel where necessary and provide technical support to customers either on site or track support. This will give you great exposure to racing teams and offers the opportunity to see the gearboxes you’ve been working on, in action.

About You

To be successful you’ll need to have the following skills and experience:

  • Mechanical Engineering, Automotive or Garage background
  • Practical/Hands on experience in a similar role/environment
  • It would be great if you were educated to apprenticeship level or have basic engineering training
  • Ability to learn new skills and enjoy problem solving
  • Excellent attention to detail with a high level of concentration
  • Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines
  • Good IT skills

It would be nice if you also had the following skills and experience, but this isn’t essential:

  • Knowledge of type of machinery used
  • Knowledge of motor vehicles
  • Experience with Motorsport or Automotive
