Xtrac currently have the opportunity for Gear Cutters to join our team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for programming editing, setting and operating CNC Shaping/Hobbing machines, as well as any other relevant machines to produce the transmission parts to the company quality standards.
Following a successful training and induction programme the successful candidate will be working to a department schedule, you will be expected to check the job pack, components and packaging, as well as check for set up sheets and part history, creating new set up sheets where necessary. You will be required to obtain a data sheet (if applicable) and locate tooling and a cutter for each part you are working on.
You will be responsible for the setup of the machine for first off including deburring and operate the machine whilst observing completion of control plans if applicable.
The role involves the cleaning and deburring of components to the required standard as well as completing all necessary job cards and paperwork, repacking the part in appropriate packaging before booking off on the system and relocating the part to its next operation.
About You
It is essential therefore that you have experience in a manufacturing environment, with experience using CNC machinery.
It is important that you are able to understand engineering drawings and instructions and to visualise finished products, however, training and supervision will be provided to the successful motivated candidate. You should be computer literate and ideally have experience of Microsoft office packages – word, Excel, outlook and email.
Good levels of concentration are a must. You will need to be able to work alone and as part of a team, with the ability to appreciate customers’ requirements and short lead times.
