About the role
The core role of an Analysis Engineer combines computer aided engineering (CAE) analysis, using tier one software tools, with the application of fundamental engineering principles to verify transmission systems.
Reporting to the Head of Analysis and Simulation, the Analysis Engineer will work with the design team to ensure transmissions meet the specification.
The main disciplines of the Analysis and Simulation department are gears, splines, rolling element bearings, structural analysis including finite element analysis (FEA), mechanical systems and lubrication systems.
You will also be expected to offer technical solutions for gear, bearing and lubrication related problems, as well as evaluate gearbox structures with respect to strength and stiffness. You will also be required to write technical reports to communicate and record your findings and conclusions.
The Analysis Engineer also has an important role in supporting gear manufacture, in specifying gear cutting tooling and advising on the effects of non-conformance.
The job will entail working on a wide range of transmission products from both motorsport and high-performance automotive (HPA) markets.
Specialist training will be provided as required in the core areas of Analysis and Simulation at Xtrac
About you
You will enjoy being part of a fast-paced and engaging environment and working with a passionate and driven team. You have initiative, enthusiasm, a flexible approach, and the ability to work to deadlines when required.
You’ll also be comfortable working calmly and constructively in a priority changing environment and be able to manage your own workload.
You will have a degree in a mechanical, automotive, aeronautical, or similar discipline. Postgraduate degrees such as MEng, MSc and PhD would also be welcome.
Previous analysis experience in the following disciplines would be an advantage:
- Mechanical transmissions or similar rotating machinery.
- Gear or spline design
- Rolling element bearings
- Structural finite element analysis (FEA) using ANSYS or a similar package.
- Mechanical systems analysis using Romax or similar transmissions package.
- 1-Dimensional (1D) analysis of dynamic mechanical systems using AMESIM or a similar package.
- 1-Dimensional (1D) analysis of lubrication networks using AMESIM or a similar package.
- 3-Dimensional (3D) analysis of lubrication systems using Particleworks or a similar package.
So why work with us?
