P1316 ELECTRIC WORLD RALLYCROSS TRANSMISSION

The P1316 is a single speed ILEV e-axle for electric-powered vehicles for cars competing in the FIA World Rallycross Championship from 2022 and suitable for circuit racing cars such as electric touring cars.

Austrian company Kreisel was selected by the FIA as the supplier of electric kits for the electric-powered cars in the FIA World Rallycross Championship. Xtrac’s P1316 ILEV e-axle was selected by Kreisel to be a central part of the kit and will develop 500 kW (680hp) and run for four seasons, from 2022 to 2025.

Along with Xtrac’s ILEV e-axle, Kreisel will supply a state of the art 52.65kWh battery, two 250kW motors and two inverters. Testing of the powertrain kit commences in the spring of 2021, with kits available in Autumn 2021.

The P1316 ILEV e-axle has an overall ratio of 7.90:1 and is suitable for use with e-motors with a power of 250kW and an input speed up to 15,000 rpm. Lubrication is by an internal oil pump, a semi-dry sump oil pick up to minimise churning losses and optimise gearbox efficiency, with the option to fit an externally mounted oil cooler.

The differential is a multi-plate ramp type limited slip differential with adjustable pre-load. Bespoke output flanges allow optimised driveshaft lengths. Weight is a class leading 21kg (dependent on specification) thanks to the use of Xtrac’s own ultra-high specification XM023 material for the highly loaded and weight optimised components.
