GIMBAL TEST RIG
Xtrac have a very active R&D laboratory area, which includes material research as well as transmission developments and is used for in house projects and by customers. To support gearbox development, Xtrac have a 2 axis ‘Gimbal’ test rig allowing extensive validation testing of new transmission designs as well as optimisation projects for existing transmissions.
This testing allows Xtrac and Xtrac’s customers to continually increase understanding and calibration of gearbox and differential oil systems.
The rig and control system were designed in house to suit Xtrac’s precise requirements to provide a bespoke program allowing increased capability to provide optimised oil system solutions.
The Gimbal test rig is available for rental use on a daily basis including Xtrac technician support. If required, Xtrac will design and manufacture the appropriate tooling to mount the customer’s gearbox or differential onto the rig. The R&D laboratory is a secure area, allowing complete confidentiality to be offered for the duration of any test.
In conjunction with the customer, Xtrac will determine the most appropriate test strategy and procedure to undertake the testing and provide a fully documented results package.
