In memory of Jon Fone

On 19th May 2025, Xtrac very sadly lost a key member of our grinding team – Jon Fone who passed away unexpectedly.

Jon (JJ) joined Xtrac in September 1999 and began his journey as an apprentice – from the very beginning, he showed a quiet determination and a passion for learning that would define his 25-year career.

Jon’s first steps through the factory took him to the inspection department, where he worked with laser etchers and component inspection. He later moved into the sub-contracting department before completing his apprenticeship in the grinding department in 2004 – a department he would remain in for the rest of his career.

He was the cornerstone of the grinding team, known for his deep knowledge, steady hands, and unwavering confidence with the machinery. His colleagues relied on him not just for his skill, but for his calm, cheerful presence. Over the years he contributed to manufacturing some of the most complex components Xtrac has been involved in.

Jon was always smiling and kind-hearted, he will be missed by everyone who knew him, and we pass on our condolences to Jon’s parents Chris and Shirley, his brother Nick and the rest of his family and friends.
