Newbury College Graduation 2012
Thursday 10th January 2013
On 11th December 2012, Newbury College held its graduation evening, and as part of the
celebrations three special awards were presented, one of which was the “Newbury College Outstanding Learner Award”. We are delighted to announce that Martin Carrick was the recipient of the award and was presented with a trophy by Sir David Bell, Vice Chancellor of the University of Reading. Congratulations to Martin who was chosen from 150 students to receive this award.
Martin was nominated by his course tutor Graham Shelmerdine who said the following...
" Martin was an exceptional student and obtained a Distinction in his Level 5 HND in Engineering. This supplements the HNC and National Diploma in Engineering that he previously
obtained at Newbury College. He was an outstanding, hardworking student who was a tremendous asset to the course. He always gave 100% effort and made an outstanding contribution to the course. Martin is a credit to his company, the college and the course. His quiet unassuming personality did not stop him from asking questions in his thirst for knowledge
and his desire to succeed. He was a pleasure to teach and I strongly recommend this outstanding student for this award".
