229 Transverse Rear Mounted Sequential Sports Car Gearbox

This gearbox is designed and manufactured for Sports Car applications. It is a customer specification transverse gearbox, based on one of Xtrac's successful Le Mans winning gearbox designs.

The project involved the design, manufacture and assembly of a rear mounted, transverse gearbox. The resultant design allows gear cluster changes without disassembly of the rear of the car. Gear changes are performed using Xtrac's positive and reliable sequential gearchange mechanisms.

Xtrac's legendary record for reliability and performance was built on multiple winning Le Mans record from products like this.

516 Front Wheel Drive Touring Car

The 516 gearbox is a high performance front wheel drive touring car gearbox that has been designed specifically for the World Touring Car Championship.

The 516 makes use of reduced center distance F1 derived gear ratios to minimise the size and weight of the gearbox and to minimise inertia. The gearchange system incorporates the latest polynomial barrel track design and low inertia gearchange rack to improve gearchange response and driver feel.

The low positioning of the gear cluster enables easy removal from the car under the chassis rail, and lowers the centre of gravity. The gear cluser is fully exposed when removed from the gearbox allowing quick inspection, and easy access for ratio changes.

213 Adjustable Negative Pre-Load Differential (ANPD)

Xtrac have designed and developed a new differential for the Porsche 911 GT3R, as used by Dick Barbour and tested by Porsche at Weissach. We are able to offer this unit direct to customers for use in the 911 GT3R.

The '213' Differential is an adjustable Negative Pre-load Differential (ANPD). Under light acceleration or deceleration levels, the differential will remain open, but as the torque transmitted increases, the force separating the side gears will increase, overcoming the negative pre-load effect of the Belleville springs and lock up the friction discs and plates.

The characteristics of the differential can be tuned by changing either the ramp angles on the side gear rings, or adjusting the amount of negative pre-load via the adjuster plates. The adjustment can be carried out either on the bench or in the car.

A small machining modification is required to allow the unit to fit into the existing Porsche casing. Xtrac can modify the casing or supply details for customers to carry out the machining themselves.

262 Lola Champ Car VLP Differential with Valve Adjustment

This differential is for the current Lola Champ Car. It combines the best features of viscous, and ramp limited slip differentials, in one highly compact unit.

As well as offering speed and torque sensing characteristic, the unit is also fully adjustable. Torque sensing is carried out by a conventional symmetrical ramp arrangement with many options available. Speed sensing is achieved using a Visco-Lok shear pump unit. The Visco-Lok's unit is fitted with a valve that controls the speed at which the pump will start to lock the differential. This can be used to keep the differential open in cornering, but locking when a wheel spins up.

This unit offers the proven reliability of Xtrac's high quality components, combined with the unit's adjustability to give a truly competitive edge.
