Graduates

Xtrac normally offer graduate opportunities on an annual basis, however unfortunately at present, for 2008 we do not foresee any vacancies.  If you wish, please do still send in your details and they will be kept on file for if and when this situation should change.

The candidate will work in the Engineering department as a Design Engineer. The level of responsibility and type of project he/she would work on depends on the ability of the individual to rise to the challenges set, but the expectation is for that individual to become an integrated, contributing member of the design team. Graduate engineers only work on “real” projects, which ultimately end up on racecars!

The candidate should be a student of Aeronautical, Automotive, Mechanical Engineering, or similar degree currently in their final year of study or recently graduated. Good academic results are a pre-requisite, as is an interest in motorsport. Any experience or exposure to an engineering, automotive or motorsport environment is desirable. The candidate should be able to work unsupervised, be self-motivated and be prepared to work long hours!

The induction for the graduate engineer includes training on the Unigraphics 3D CAD system, the company MRP system as well as a thorough introduction to the company’s manufacturing processes during the shop floor based phase. Each graduate is assigned a mentor who is there to ensure that the transition from student to Design Engineer is as seamless as possible.

Your excellent communication skills will enable you to forge solid working relationships throughout Xtrac. Good organisation and IT skills are a pre-requisite as is the ability to work effectively under pressure and to meet deadlines. You will be a confident, self-motivated team player who has a flexible approach to working hours when a project requires it.

Recent previous candidates have already represented the company as Technical Engineering Support at Formula 1 races, World Rally Car events, and spent time at our US Facility seconded as Design/Track Support Engineers.

If you have the aptitude, drive and determination, Xtrac can provide the opportunity.
