Mike Endean starts Xtrac.
Early projects include 4-wheel drive gearboxes for Rallycross and Paris-Dakar Rally Raid.

1986
Growing demand for specialised transverse gearboxes for 4-wheel drive Group A cars from Toyota, Mitsubishi, Opel, Mazda and others.
Peter Digby, former Production Manager for the Williams Teams and Team Hass F1 joins Xtrac.
Mike Endean concentrates on enhancing the company's design capability.

1987
Xtrac moves to new factory in Wokingham. Starts ongoing capital investment in state-of-the-art machine tools. Cliff Hawkins joins as first Design Engineer to assist Mike Endean.

Enters Formula One market.

Workforce grows to 100 employees.

1997
Management and employee buyout led by Peter Digby with John James (Production Director) and Cliff Hawkins (Development Director).
Mike Endean reduces role within the company.
New initiative allows employees to share in success of company. Employee Shareholding Trust established with a 49% Shareholding in Xtrac.

1998
Wins prestigious Pro-Share award in recognition of the excellent employee share scheme.

1999
Wins exclusive contract to supply the Indy Racing League. Adrian Moore (Chief Engineer) takes over the running of the engineering department which has grown to 35 staff.
BMW win Le Mans with Xtrac Sportscar gearbox.

2000
Company relocates to a new 88,000 sq. ft. (8,200 Metres) factory constructed on a 13-acre site at Thatcham near Newbury, England.
Company undertakes major restructuring with HSBC Private Equity taking a 25% stake.
Wins contracts to supply British Touring Car Championship and the new German Touring Car Championship.

2001
Wins prestigious Motorsport Industry Association 'Business of the Year' Award.
Embarks on major new investment in capital plant.
Workforce grows to 225 employees.

Xtrac Inc opens in Indianapolis, USA.
BTCC contract extended until 2006.
Wins Thames Valley Business Award and Peter Digby is national finalist in Entrepreneur of the Year.
Xtrac become approved supplier for Grand-Am Daytona Prototype Series.
Wins Proshare Awards for Most Effective Communication of an Employee Share Plan and the Best Performance in Fostering Employee Share Ownership and Lloyds TSB award for outstanding management.

2004
IRL contract extended until 2006.
Xtrac begin expansion into Automotive and Marine markets.
Simon Barker joins Xtrac as Operations Manager in charge of all manufacturing.

2005
Xtrac Inc grows to 10 staff.

2006
Workforce grows to 240 employees.
'6012' Supercar transmission launched.
Xtrac manufactured diesel sportscar gearbox wins in its debut race.
Simon Barker (Operations Manager) joins the board as Operations Director.
Xtrac win Employer of the Year in the Berkshire Apprentice Awards.
